Photo Collective
Magazine
A biannual publication celebrating the changing ecology of Australian photography
Issue 003 available now
Calling for submissions for Issue 004
Produced by Photo Collective in collaboration with our friends at Momento Pro. This soft-cover, limited-edition publication features project work by Australian photographers along with essays and in-depth conversations exploring photography, photobook production and design. Through a combination of commissioned work and community submissions, Photo Collective Magazine is a curated, collaborative celebration of contemporary Australian photography conceived, designed and printed in Australia.
We are seeking visual and written essays for inclusion in Photo Collective Magazine. Submissions are open themed and are open year round, so if you miss the cutoff date for one issue you will be automatically considered for the next.
We are especially interested in dialogues between writers and artists, photographs and words. Singular pieces which form conversations that intertwine visual and language based expression will be highly regarded. In some cases we may facilitate this collaboration, although if you are an artist already working with a writer (or vice versa) we want to hear from you.
Visual essays should be between 10 and 20 images in length, accompanied by a concise rationale and artist biography.
Written essays should be between 500 and 1000 words in length, accompanied by no less than 5 supporting images and author biography.
Please note that not all submissions are included in the publication. Our editing team select and curate projects and articles for each issue.
We pay contributors for their work. For this reason, all successful articles and projects will be paid an industry standard fee for their inclusion in Photo Collective Magazine.
Submission Fees
Submissions to Photo Collective Magazine are A$15 per proposal. Alternatively, subscribe to Photo Collective Magazine for A$80 p.a. (+P&H) to receive two publications per year and one submission per publication at no additional cost.
Subscriptions and submission fees allow initiatives like this to exist. They ensure that all contributors are paid for their work and help us to maintain a healthy arts industry in Australia, providing opportunities for our community.
