Now in its seventh edition, APA is the most progressive and inclusive award for photographers, image-makers and enthusiasts in Australia. In 2022 we have a unique and exciting program headed with a major exhibition and awards night. We will also be delivering talks, workshops and industry events designed to bring people together through photography.

Thank you to everybody who took part in APA 2022. Judging for 2022 has now commenced, for a full timeline leading up to the APA Exhibition & Awards Ceremony in November, please see below. We hope to see you there.

Photo Collective warmly welcomes the 2022 APA committee, a considered cross-section of contemporary Australian photographers featuring Drew Ambrose, Sally Brownbill, Rikki Bunder, Ruben Fino, Buzz Gardiner, Ayman Kaake, Morganna Magee, Rowena Meadows, Tajette O’Halloran, Chris Round, Michaela Skovranova, Madeline Simmons, Danie Sprague and Tobias Titz.

This year’s impressive prize pool is made up of over A$45,000 worth of cash and photographic equipment from APA major partners Nikon Australia, Kayell Australia and Photo Play alongside prizes from Momento Pro, The Brownbill Effect, Urth, Epson Australia, Format Framing, Eizo Asia Pacific and Canson Infinity.

The 2022 APA Exhibition will be a vibrant celebration of Australian photography comprising a major exhibition, opening night and award announcements taking place within Yarra City Council at Bodriggy Brewpub during the weekend of November 18th – 20th, 2022. Alongside the major exhibition printed on Canson Infinity papers, the broader program will also include artist talks, live music, workshops, demonstrations with our industry partners and photobook exhibitions designed to bring people together, celebrate and learn.

Photo collective represents photographers, advocates, educators and curators working towards the collective goal of celebrating and contributing to the changing ecology of Australian photography. We achieve this through award recognition, publications, exhibitions, community engagement initiatives and educational programs.
