Alexander Komenda
Alexander Komenda is a Polish-Canadian photographer currently living in Espoo, Finland. He has worked with and been published in the Calvert Journal, Photoworks, Paper Journal, Der Greif, Foto Filmic as well as various other international publications. Alexander has exhibited at the Guernsey Photo Festival, Cambridge University, the Technische Sammlungen (Germany), Somerset House (London), and will be exhibiting his work at the Fotofestival in Lenzburg (Switzerland) as well as the Goethe Institut in Madrid (Spain) later in 2022.
Alexander’s work was featured in the British Journal of Photography’s “ones to watch” as well as PH Museum’s 12 graduates to watch in 2020. He has been commended as the Student Documentary Photographer of the Year by the Royal Photographic Society in 2021. He was the 2nd place winner of the Portraits Hellerau Photo Award in 2022. He has been shortlisted for the Bartur Photo Award, 212 Photo Istanbul, Sony World Photo Awards, Future Focus and the Gomma Grant. He has been shortlisted for the Taylor Wessing Photographic Prize in 2022.
Alexander completed his BA in Documentary Photography at the University of South Wales (formerly Newport) with First Class Honors in 2020. He is currently completing his Masters’ in Photography at Aalto University in Finland.
