The Event

Presented by Photo Collective and Contact Sheet in collaboration with Nikon Australia, Canson Infinity, Kayell Australia and Photoplay Photography, New Dialogues in Photography is an exciting seminar series delving deep into the ways that Australian photographic artists are innovating in the spaces of collaboration and visual storytelling.

Bringing Australian Photography Awards to Sydney, Contact Sheet director Paul McDonald invites you to attend a special chapter of New Dialogues presented live at Contact Sheet in St Leonards. Paul will be facilitating a conversation between finalists of the 2022 Australian Photography Awards (TBA 19/11), opening a dialogue about process, photography awards and the state of Australian photography.

Held in front of a live audience in Naarm/Melbourne, the event will also be streamed online using the Nikon Z system. Registration is essential for this free event, so be sure to register now so as not to miss out.

Paul McDonald

Paul McDonald is a socially engaged artist, educator and curator whose personal practice explores masculinity and mental health. His photographic work has been published both nationally and internationally. As Director of Contact Sheet Paul curated and presented over 50 exhibitions, a series of free public programs attracting an audience of over 7,500 visitors and provided a structured mentoring program to over 60 clients, workshops for over 180 clients and hosted over 15 internships in partnership with local colleges and Universities.

Contact Sheet is a creative space for photography committed to supporting emerging and established photographers. It supports photographers to develop their artistic and commercial practices. Contact Sheet host’s exhibitions at the St Leonard’s gallery and other spaces and showcases new photographic projects on-line. It provides opportunities for education, skills building, mentorship and collaboration.
