Join Co-Founder of Photo Collective Harriet Tarbuck on Saturday 18th from 5pm as she opens the #everydayclimatecrisis Visual Petition Projection and Exhibition with Hilary Wardhaugh at Climarte Gallery in Melbourne.
Over the last 18 months Hilary has called out to all women and non-binary people of Australia to create images about Australia’s climate crisis, country-wide. She has received 1,248 images documenting the immediate effects of climate change as they impact society, the environment and our psyche. Images of drought, floods, fires and pollution. Images of hope, pristine landscapes, seascapes, regeneration and people taking action to help as well as images that creatively respond to the theme.
Launched by The Hon Linda Burney MP on 10th Feb 2022 at PhotoAccess in Canberra and accepted by Alicia Payne MP Member of the House of Representatives on 9th June in front of Parliament House, the petition has now also been accepted to the National Library of Australia and is on its way to be tabled in the Senate.
On Saturday, along with exhibition prints and projection, the petition itself will sit on top of a plinth for two weeks during the exhibition. Viewers are encouraged to interact with it, handle it and engage with it. There will also be a 250 page document of personal statements from the submitting photographers on display.
We warmly welcome all members of our community to come along and engage with this important project.
