The call for entries for the National Photographic Portrait Prize 2022 is open. The National Photographic Portrait Prize promotes the best in contemporary photographic portraiture by both professional and aspiring Australian photographers.

Entries close at 9:00am (AEDT) on Monday 31 January 2022.

Finalists will be announced around April, and the winner will be selected when the exhibition opens in June 2022. All finalists will be exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery alongside the Darling Portrait Prize from 25 June to 9 October 2022!

Please make sure you read all the Terms & Conditions and frequently asked questions before you start. We don’t want you to be inadvertently disqualified after scrolling through enthusiastically and missing an important part.

The winner will nab a $30,000 cash prize from us AND photographic equipment – courtesy of our imaging partner, Canon. There are a raft of other prizes too, including Highly Commended, an Art Handlers’ Award, and of course, the People’s Choice Award.
